Non-communicable diseases are increasing in South Africa largely due to the food consumed by South Africans on daily basis. The low nutritional value contained in the foods consumed by the average children has had a negative impact especially on children with regards to their health. As a
result, 13% of South African are children either overweight or obese. The school campaign aims to advocate for implementation of nutrition policies and regulations that protect the school environment from junk food and sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs).
